“When I Was Younger….”

Okay, I’m on a roll here.  A picture roll.

There has been an earlier piece about songs written about kids.  Then it occurred to me at one point all these posing, bigger than life rock stars were once kids themselves.

All except for Lemmy.  He came out as is.

But besides that,  here are some very homely pictures of future rock stars:

Michael “Mick” Jagger. His zipper was already down.

Little Jimmy Morrison.  His later attitude was a direct result from this haircut.

Janis Lynn Joplin.  She was picked on mercilessly in school.  She looks like one of the Little Rascals here.

John Lennon & Paul McCartney both before their hearts were shattered by the death of both of their mothers.  Paul at 14,  John at 17.  John was raised by his Aunt Mimi from a very young age though.  She’s the one who told him: “The guitar’s all very well, John, but you’ll never make a living at it”  Supposedly he had it written on a small plaque in his house.

William Bruce (Axl) Rose, Jr.

John Francis (Jon Bon) Bongiovi, Jr.

Robert Allen Zimmerman.  AKA little Bobby Dylan.  It’s hard to be cool when you are 15.

Farrokh Bulsara.  Better known as “Freddie Mercury”.  Ball in hand.

Brian Warner.  Now known as Marilyn Manson with his have to be proud parents.

Two of John Michael “Ozzy” Osbourne.  The original.

John Simon Ritchie:  Sid Viscous. Looked like a punk even then.

Thomas Lee Bass:  Tommy Lee.  I don’t need to comment.

Bono & The Edge.  Born Paul Hewson and David Evans.

Saul Hudson.  His stage name is slash, but I swear I went to high school with this guy.

Steven Victor Tallaricco.  Better known as Steven Tyler.  I cannot imagine why Liv Tyler thought she might be related to him in some way when she saw him……

Little Ritchie Starkey. Everybody loved him then too.

A Quick Quiz:  Which one is George? Which one is his son Dhani?    Pretty freaky, huh?

All this to prove that rock stars are just as mortal as you and me.  Apparently it’s all an attitude.

Oh, and talent can help…..

I think everybody went to high school with Slash.
There’s a dud who looks like that in every high school in America.
