Big Balls

“I’m sick and tired of people saying that we put out 11 albums that sound exactly the same. In fact, we’ve put out 12 albums that sound exactly the same.”

-Angus Young.

Rock and roll is a big word.  There are many sub categories that go into it.

It was taken to new levels by so many.

AC DC kept it like it originated.

From the little Richard school of “Good Golly Miss Molly”.

They never tried to record a “Sgt Pepper”.  They never delved into confessional psychoanalysis albums or the “concept” record with heavy deep lyrics.

They have only ever had one trick up their sleeve, and who cares when that trick is so good.

You have to respect that.

After becoming THE largest selling rock band in the WORLD, they could have done some navel searching.

Nope.

They do the same straight ahead macho bravado rock as they did from day one.

There has to be some scientific study somewhere in some Ivy League school (because THEY listen to “Back in Black” as well) to determine just why this bludgeoning pre-historic rhythm with loud guitars and screaming hits people right in the face and they love it.

But I don’t want to know.  I just know it’s primal and fun.

“Back in Black” is AC/DC’s magnum opus, and it just may be the pinnacle of hard rock in general.

It’s not rocket science.  It’s not “A Day in the Life”.

And it’s not meant to be.

It’s meant to rock your core.  You feel it.  You have to move to it.  You cannot deny it.
